To teach your English White Terrier tricks, even the easy ones, you should get hold of some delicious treats, be in a remote suitable location and hold the coaching sessions to under fifteen minutes or the English White Terrier will begin to get tired. Take note that when he gets something correct give him lots of appreciation and a reward treat, just be cautious not to get him extra ecstatic or he will lose focus.
Teach your English White Terrier to give you his paw
To train your English White Terrier to give you his paw, initially get him to sit, then as you say the word ‘paw’ take his paw in your hand and give him a snack. Next repeat this, and after a few successful tries do not take his paw so quickly. State the word ‘paw’, count to 1 and only then take it. You ought to see that he is bringing his paw upward as you say the word. If he doesn’t then return to saying it at the same time. Do it a couple of more times then slow your response again. After two or three sessions most English White Terriers pick this trick up rather easily.
Teach your English White Terrier to give you a high 5
Like a lot of tricks the high five is a progression of a more basic trick, in this case the paw trick. Hold a snack in between your fingers and lift your hand a bit higher than you’d do for the paw trick. Your English White Terrier will expect you wish to do the paw trick and will grab for the snack with his paw as we had instructed him previously. While he reaches up you say “high five” and offer him the treat. As soon as your English White Terrier has mastered the paw trick this 1 should be very simple to understand and with only a couple of sessions he will be doing it from your hand signal instead of your voice.
Teach your English White Terrier to leap through a hoop
Before you start this 1 I would simply like to ask you to be a little sensible and not suspend the hoop too high up as you do not want your English White Terrier to hurt himself while practicing the trick. Place your English White Terrier to 1 side of a hula hoop, get him to pay attention to your hand on the opposite side of the hoop. Hold a snack in your hand and offer the English White Terrier the direction to stop sitting. Initially he may try to walk around or below the hoop. When this occurs start again. Your English White Terrier desires the snack and will soon find out that walking around or below does not get it so he’ll soon start going through it. If he does, say “hoop” and offer him the snack. He’ll soon be jumping through the hoop upon the command of “hoop”. When I started off teaching this trick I owned a medium sized dog, so I began with the hoop six inches from the ground and slowly brought it to waist height. In the event that you have a smaller sized dog you might wish to begin with the hoop touching the ground so he simply goes through the hoop and then slowly raise it more once he gets used to the trick.
