To teach your Cesky Terrier tricks, even the simple ones, you should have in hand some of his favorite snacks, be in an obscure suitable place and hold the learning sessions to 10 – 15 minutes or your Cesky Terrier will start to get bored. Just remember when he gets something correct offer him great deals of praise and a reward snack, just be mindful not to get him extremely fired up or he will lose concentration.
Teach your Cesky Terrier to offer you his paw
To train your Cesky Terrier to give you his paw, initially get him to sit, then as you say the word ‘paw’ take his paw in your hand and offer him a snack. And then repeat this, and after a couple of successful tries don’t take his paw so quickly. State the word ‘paw’, count to 1 and after that take it. You must discover that he is raising his paw upward as you state the word. If he does not then go back to saying it at the exact same time. Do it a few more times then slow your response once again. After just a couple of sessions most Cesky Terriers pick this trick up rather easily.
Teach your Cesky Terrier to give you a high five
Like a lot of tricks the high five is a continuation of a simpler trick, and in this case the paw trick. Place a snack in between your fingers and lift your hand just a little higher than you would for the paw trick. Your Cesky Terrier will expect you wish to perform the paw trick and will reach for the snack with his paw as we had trained him in the prior trick. Once he reaches up you say “high five” and give him the treat. When your Cesky Terrier has actually mastered the paw trick this one will probably be really easy to master and with only a few sessions he will be accomplishing it on hand signal rather than from your voice.
Teach your Cesky Terrier to jump through a hoop
Before you begin this one I would just like to ask you to be a little reasonable and not suspend the hoop too high as you do not want your Cesky Terrier to hurt himself while practicing the trick. Place your Cesky Terrier to one side of a hula hoop, get him to take notice of your hand on the other side of the hoop. Hold a treat in your hand and offer the Cesky Terrier the command to stop sitting. Initially he might attempt to walk around or underneath the hoop. When this takes place begin once again. Your Cesky Terrier wants the treat and will quickly discover that walking around or underneath does not get it done so he’ll soon begin going through it. When he does, state “hoop” and give him the treat. He’ll soon be jumping through the hoop upon the command of “hoop”. When I started doing this trick I had a medium sized dog, so I started with the hoop 6 inches from the floor and gradually brought it to waist high. In the case that you have a smaller sized dog you may want to start with the hoop on the floor so he just goes through the hoop and after that slowly raise it once he gets accustomed to the trick.
