All of us imagine training the perfect Large Munsterlander, a pup that is a CGC or canine good citizen and is very well mannered and responsible at all times. Well dreams do come true if the teaching is done with kindness and focus. Always remember pups learn from the first day and need to be shown what is right, what isn’t, and effective socialization.
Pups are just like children, they really need constant guidance and training. Training a pup need not be a nightmare, all you need to keep in mind are a few straightforward rules:
Top Ten Tips For Training Your Large Munsterlander
- Till your pup learns, you must keep an eye on her at all times. Once you are unable to then you will need to crate her. Establish a routine for the pup, this will serve to help him to calm down quickly. The schedule will need to incorporate things such as regular potty visits, feeding times, relaxation times, strolls, play time, exercise, and so forth. A pup that has a busy day has no time at all to be bored and get into mischief.
- Teach the pup to value you. Large Munsterlanders live in packs and naturally follow a leader. If you establish your dominance in no uncertain terms then coaching will become easy because the pup will follow you at all times and not challenge your power.
- Use only encouraging training methods. Never holler at, hit, or abuse your Large Munsterlander. It is not just terrible but may create behavioral problems. Using electrical shocks, prong collars, sprays, etc could quite possibly injure the animal.
- Teach the pup “nothing in life is free.” This is a method of teaching that is widely recognized as a reliable coaching tool. If you apply this, your pup will learn that to experience anything like love, a walk, or reward, he has to behave properly.
- Show the significance of “No,” from day one. Do not advocate actions like leaping, growling, tug-o-war, snarling, or running out of open gates and doors. Appreciate courtesy and just ignore or leave when there is bad conduct. The pup will learn that if he acts up he will lose his companion/playmate.
- To deal with a behavior you will need to catch the Large Munsterlander in the process and startle her by shaking a jar of rocks. Once you have done this help him straighten out his behavior and instantly offer him a snack and praise. Large Munsterlanders do not remember what occurred previously so rebuking him after an event is of no use.
- Be sure to call/use his name positively. Don’t say “Bad TOM,” or “No Tom,” this will result in confusion and the Large Munsterlander will think that if you call his name then it is something bad. The puppy must relate his name with pleasant times like hugs, petting, walks, snacks, and such. If this occurs he will come happily the moment you call out his name.
- Create a teaching schedule that is short and sweet, about ten minutes three times a day. Lengthy recurring lessons can be dull and the Large Munsterlander will lose interest in the learning session. Help make lessons interesting and use trick training to show commands like sit, down, come and so on.
- Bond with the Large Munsterlander and both of you are going to appreciate your lessons. The pup should look forward to spending time with you and not stay clear of you by breaking away or taking cover. Make sure to socialize the pup very early. Socialization is among the most vital lessons. The Large Munsterlander should figure out how to coexist around various other animals, people, sounds, vehicles, and other activities. So, slowly and gradually introduce the doggy when he is little to common activities and noises. Take him to the shopping centre/ dog park, introduce him to kids and other pets, and make him unafraid of the vacuum and garden hose.
- Get to know everything about cage training, leash walking, house breaking, along with food training. These are training 101 lessons that every Large Munsterlander puppy should master. Understand all the characteristics as well as distinctive features of the breed. This will give you important insights on how to effectively teach the doggy.
