Should you get a Greyhound puppy?Eventually, most parents are going to hear: “Please, can we get that Greyhound puppy?”

Instead of avoiding the question, parents are advised to consider whether the family is ready for a new dog, especially a Greyhound, says Sharon Bergen, SVP of education and training for Knowledge Learning Corporation, the nation’s foremost provider of early childhood care and education.

When thinking about “should you get the Greyhound” Bergen recommends the parents ascertain the pros and cons of adding the Greyhound to the household before agreeing to a kid’s wish. “The Greyhound can teach our children about responsibility and be a welcome addition to your household-or it can be a mistake,” she said. Bergen recommends you ponder the following before committing:

Things to Consider Before Deciding Should You Get The Greyhound Puppy

Who will be the one to care for the Greyhound? Households must agree beforehand who is to be the one responsible for bathing, feeding, walking and cleaning up behind the Greyhound.

Do you have room for the Greyhound, and does your landlord allow dogs? Folks living in townhouses or apartments may prefer a fish, a bird, or cat, rather than the Greyhound. Check the library or Internet to find out more about Greyhounds to determine if another pet may be more appropriate for the household.

Owning the Greyhound is a big committment and can be expensive. Family members must understand that they may have to forego other activities to properly care for the Greyhound. If the thought seems too much of a committment, you may want to consider delaying until the child is responsible enough to help raise the Greyhound.

Conclusion: Should You Get A Greyhound

Bergen suggests the whole family meet the Greyhound prior to committing to take it home. Rearing the Greyhound is a big commitment, so think carefully before adopting a furry new family member.
