Want to Teach Your Samoyed Some Tricks: Try These Three

3 Tricks To Teach Your Samoyed
3 Tricks To Teach Your Samoyed

To teach your Samoyed tricks, even easy ones, you need to get some tasty snacks, go to a quiet suitable place and manage to keep the training sessions to under fifteen minutes or your Samoyed will begin to get tired. Always remember when he gets something right give him great deals of praise and a reward treat, though take care not to get him extra fired up or he can lose concentration.

Teach your Samoyed to give you his paw

To train your Samoyed to give you his paw, initially get him to sit, then as you say the word ‘paw’ take his paw in your hand and give him a snack. Next do it again, and after a few successful tries don’t take his paw so fast. State the word ‘paw’, count to one and then take it. You should see that he is raising his paw up as you say the word. If he doesn’t then go back to saying it at the exact same time. Do it a few more times then slow your reaction once again. After 2 or 3 sessions most Samoyeds pick this trick up quite easily.

Teach your Samoyed to give you a high five

Like a great deal of tricks the high 5 is a continuation of an earlier trick, in this case it’s the paw trick. Hold a snack in between your two fingers and raise your hand just a bit higher than you’d raise it for the paw trick. Your Samoyed will assume you want to perform the paw trick and will grab for the snack with his paw as we had instructed him in the previous trick. While he rises you say “high 5” and give your Samoyed the treat. Once your Samoyed has mastered the paw trick this 1 will most likely be extremely simple to understand and with only a couple of sessions he will be doing it from your hand signal instead of voice control.

Teach your Samoyed to jump through a hoop

Before you start this 1 I would just like to ask you to be a little reasonable and not suspend the hoop higher than necessary as you don’t really want your Samoyed to harm himself while practicing the trick. Set your Samoyed on one side of a hula hoop, get him to pay attention to your hand on the other side of the hoop. Place a treat in your hand and give the Samoyed the command to stop sitting. In the beginning he may attempt to go around or underneath the hula hoop. When this occurs start once again. Your Samoyed desires the snack and will quickly learn that going around or beneath doesn’t get it done so he will soon start going through it. When he does, say “hoop” and give him the snack. He will soon be jumping through the hoop on the command of “hoop”. When I started teaching this trick I owned a medium sized dog, so I began with the hoop 6 inches from the ground and slowly lifted it to waist high. In the case that you have a smaller sized dog you might desire to start with the hoop on the floor so he just goes through the hoop and then gradually raise it as he gets accustomed to the trick.

I really hope you have enjoyed learning these 3 tricks you can teach your Samoyed. Have patience with your Samoyed and above all, have a good time!
