Three Tricks You Can Teach Your Norwegian Lundehund Right Now

3 Tricks To Teach Your Norwegian Lundehund

To teach your Norwegian Lundehund tricks, even easy ones, you need to carry some of his favorite snacks, teach him in a remote suitable location and keep the teaching sessions to under fifteen minutes or your Norwegian Lundehund will start to get tired. Bear in mind when he gets something correct give him lots of praise and a reward snack, just beware not to get him overly fired up or he may likely lose concentration.

Teach your Norwegian Lundehund to give you his paw

To teach your Norwegian Lundehund to offer you his paw, first get him to sit, then as you state the word ‘paw’ take his paw in your hand and give him a treat. Then do it again, and after a couple of times don’t take his paw so fast. Say the word ‘paw’, count to one and after that take it. You must discover that he is bringing his paw upward as you say the word. If he does not then return to saying it at the very same time. Do it a couple of more times then slow your reaction once again. After a few sessions most Norwegian Lundehunds pick this trick up quite easily.

Teach your Norwegian Lundehund to give you a high five

Like a lot of tricks the high five is a progression of a more basic trick, in this case the paw trick. Place a treat in between your fingers and raise your hand a bit higher than you would for the paw trick. Your Norwegian Lundehund will think you want to do the paw trick and will reach for the treat with his paw as we trained him earlier. While he reaches up you say “high 5” and give your Norwegian Lundehund the snack. When your Norwegian Lundehund has mastered the paw trick this 1 should be really simple to learn and with only a few sessions he will be doing it from your hand signal instead of your voice.

Teach your Norwegian Lundehund to leap through a hoop

Before you start this 1 I would simply like to ask you to be a little sensible and not suspend the hoop higher than necessary as you don’t really want your Norwegian Lundehund to injure himself while practicing the trick. Place your Norwegian Lundehund to one side of a hula hoop, get him to pay attention to your hand on the other side of the hoop. Place a treat in your hand and give the Norwegian Lundehund the direction to stop sitting. Initially he may attempt to walk around or beneath the hoop. If this takes place start once again. Your Norwegian Lundehund desires the snack and will soon learn that going around or beneath doesn’t work so he will soon begin going through it. Whenever he does, say “hoop” and give him the snack. He will soon be leaping through the hoop on the command of “hoop”. When I initially started teaching this trick I had a medium sized dog, so I began with the hoop 6 inches from the floor and slowly increased it to waist high. In case you possess a smaller sized dog you might wish to begin with the hoop on the floor so he simply goes through the hoop and after that slowly lift it as he gets accustomed to the trick.

I trust you have enjoyed these 3 tricks you can teach your Norwegian Lundehund. Have patience with your Norwegian Lundehund and most importantly, have fun!
