Should you get a Boxer puppy?Eventually, most parents are going to be asked: “Mom, can I get that Boxer puppy?”

Rather than avoid the question, parents should ponder if their family is ready for a puppy, and even moreso a Boxer, says Sharon Bergen, senior vice president of education and training for Knowledge Learning Corporation, the country’s leading provider of early childcare.

When pondering “should you get the Boxer” Bergen advises that parents weigh the positives and negatives of bringing the Boxer to the household before agreeing to a child’s wish. “The Boxer can teach our kids about responsibility and become a wonderful addition to your household-or it can be a burden,” she has said. Bergen recommends parents ponder the following before deciding:

Questions to Consider Before Deciding Should You Get The Boxer Puppy

Who will care for the Boxer? Parents and children should agree beforehand who will be in charge of walking feeding, bathing and picking up after the Boxer.

Is there room for the Boxer, or does your landlord allow dogs? Families who live in apartments or townhouses may be better suited to a cat, a fish , or bird, rather than the Boxer. Check your local library or Internet to learn more about Boxers to determine if another dog may be more suited for the household.

Being the owner of the Boxer is time consuming and not cheap. Family members must know that they may have to forego current activities to properly care for the Boxer. If the idea is too daunting, you may want to suggest waiting until the child is responsible enough to help raise the Boxer.

Conclusion: Should You Get A Boxer

Bergen recommends the entire household meet the Boxer in advance of agreeing to take it home. Getting the Boxer is a long-term commitment, so think carefully before getting one.
