Is The Billy Puppy Right For Your Family?

Should you get a Billy puppy?Sooner or later, most parents are going to hear: “Mom, can we get that Billy puppy?”

Rather than avoid the question, parents should decide if the clan is prepared for a new dog, and even moreso a Billy, says Sharon Bergen, senior vice president of education and training for Knowledge Learning Corporation, the nation’s foremost provider of early childcare.

When considering “should the family get the Billy” Bergen advises parents weigh the benefits and drawbacks of bringing the Billy to the family prior to acquiescing to a kid’s request. “The Billy can teach children about responsibility and be a wonderful addition to your family-or it can become a chore,” she has said. Bergen suggests parents ponder the following before deciding:

Things to Ask Before Answering Should You Get The Billy Puppy

Who will be the one to care for the Billy? Households must come to an agreement beforehand who is to be in charge of bathing, walking, feeding and cleaning up behind the Billy.

Do you have room for the Billy, and does your landlord allow dogs? Folks who live in townhouses or apartments may be better suited to a bird, a cat, or fish, instead of the Billy. Check your library or Internet to learn more about Billys to learn if another dog may be more suitable for the family.

Rearing the Billy is time consuming and not cheap. The family should realize that they will have to forego other activities to spend time with the Billy. If this prospect is too much of a committment, you may suggest postponing until the child is committed enough to help care for the Billy.

Conclusion: Should You Get A Billy

Bergen recommends the entire family meet the Billy in advance of deciding whether to take it home. Rearing the Billy is a big commitment, so think carefully before getting one.
